The Unimog is a 1.5 ton capacity multi-purpose all-wheel drive truck produced by Mercedes-Benz. All Unimogs have excellent articulation and high ground clearance thanks to the “mono link” torque tube suspension coupled to portal axles. Portal axles allow for large amounts of ground clearance by gearing in the hub of the axle that lifts the differentials higher than the center of the tires. This model is a 404 series, manufactured in 1966, for the German Military, Bundeswehr. This Unimog was originally a cartography model used to map enemy positions in the cold war. Slick converted it into a camper with a full size futon bed, wood flooring, 40″ flatscreen TV and a directional antenna for long range WiFi reception.
